Selecting all the Lines in a Window

To select all the lines in a window with rows and columns (for example, if you want to copy all the customer ledger entries in the Customer Ledger Entry window in order to insert them in a spreadsheet program) place the cursor in the window and click Edit, Select All.

Another way to do this is to click the empty square in the upper left corner (at the top of the select bar column) of a window with rows and columns. This method also selects any lines that are not visible in the window, because it is not big enough. You can see this by scrolling up or down in the window. Selected lines are highlighted.

If you choose Edit, Select All, to execute a function on all the records (cards or lines) in a table, you should remember that the window does not necessarily display the entire table. Often only part of the table is displayed because a table filter has been set. In this case, only records included by the filter will be visible, but invisible ones will also be selected.

If you want to make sure that there is no table filter on the window, you can click View, Select All. This removes table filters and deactivates the View, Marked Only function. So unless there is a fixed filter on the window, you will be able to see all records from the table in the window. (Fixed filters are defined in the program, and changing them requires special permissions). Examples of fixed filters are found in report lists that have been set up so that at one time you can only see reports about the general ledger, customers, vendors or inventory.
