Installation Notes

  • Before installing Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 Service Pack 1 on a computer, you must remove other versions of Microsoft Dynamics NAV. You cannot upgrade previous versions of Microsoft Dynamics NAV to Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 SP 1 without uninstalling previous versions.

  • All RoleTailored components in an organization must be from the same version and build of Microsoft Dynamics NAV for the software to run correctly.

  • Installing more than one copy of Microsoft Dynamics NAV on a single computer is not supported. The exception is for installing more than one instance of Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server, but this installation requires special steps. See Walkthrough: Accessing Multiple Microsoft Dynamics NAV Databases from a Single Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server Computer.

  • Installing with individual .msi files, which was a supported scenario in earlier versions of Microsoft Dynamics NAV, is not supported in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009.

  • You can find information about migrating data from a classic C/SIDE database to SQL Server in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Upgrade Toolkit manual. You can find the toolkit appropriate for your locale on the Product Downloads for Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 page (requires PartnerSource log-in).

  • If you have either SQL Server 2000 or Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE) installed on a computer where you want to install Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009, then you must remove it before you begin installing. The presence of either of these database products causes a Setup error.
