This field contains the number of the BOM component item that the BOM subcomponent (on the line) is part of. The BOM component on this line is a subcomponent of the BOM component in this field.
If this field is filled in, the program can automatically install the BOM subcomponent on the line as a component of the service item linked to the BOM component in this field, when you ship the items on a sales order or sales invoice in the Sales & Receivables application area. The program will do this automatically under the following circumstances:
When you explode the BOM item that the BOM subcomponent on the line and the BOM component in this field belong to on the sales order or sales invoice that you have created, the BOM components and the subcomponents appear on the sales lines as normal items.
When you ship the BOM component in this field, the program automatically creates a service item linked to the component, if the component belongs to a service item group with a check mark in the Create Service Item field and has a serial number registered. At the same time, the program automatically installs the BOM subcomponent on the line as a component of the service item.
