All usage for a particular job must be posted in a job journal. Each entry on a job journal line must be related to a job. You can assign entries to the phases, tasks or steps of a job. This will help you compare estimated usage with actual usage. In order to accurately keep track of resource usage and availability and to obtain meaningful resource statistics, it is important to record all of resource usage in the job journal before you start invoicing the customer for the job. With the job journal, you can:
Post all job usage on resources, items and general ledger accounts
Apply job ledger and item ledger entries
Assign entries to phases, tasks, and steps
Reconcile resources
The Jobs application area also contains recurring journals. These journals have special fields to keep control of entries posted periodically. As in all journals, the entries can be approved before posting.
