Producing BOMs

When you produce a BOM (that is, assemble units of a BOM), the inventory on hand of the item is increased by the quantity produced. At the same time, the units of the items used to produce the BOM are decreased.

To Produce BOMs:

  1. Open the BOM Journal window.

  2. Fill in a line in the journal. For Help about a specific field, click the field and press F1.

  3. Click Posting, Post.

Note

Before posting the journal, you can click Test Report to print a report that shows whether there are any errors or missing information that will prevent the posting of the journal. To print a BOM register at the same time as you post, click Posting, Post and Print.

Note

If the warehouse location on the BOM journal line uses bins but not directed put-away and pick, assign the Bin Code on the BOM journal line to indicate where the item should be placed when finished.  The program will record a positive adjustment to the bin.  The program will record a negative adjustment to the default bins of the component items.

If the warehouse location on the BOM journal line uses directed put-away and pick, the quantities for the components will be recorded as taken out of their default bins and placed in the Inbound BOM Bin, which is defined on the Bins tab of the location card.  The output will be recorded as being in the Outbound BOM Bin, which is defined on the Bins tab of the location card.
