Dimension Combinations Window

A company may wish to control the way in which dimensions can be combined on an entry. By defining combination restrictions in the matrix cells, you can select whether dimension combinations can be used in all circumstances, only in some circumstances or not at all.

This is useful if a company has business rules about what information can be combined on an entry, for example, that users may not post invoices when they have attached both a department dimension and a project group dimension to an entry. You can also restrict the use of a particular dimension combination, depending on which dimension value combination is being used for the two dimensions.

The following field is present on the header:

Show Column Name

If you place a check mark in this field, the program will show as column headings the descriptive names you have given dimensions instead of using their codes. This may make the matrix window easier for you to use if you have set up numerical dimension codes.

The columns in the window display the following information:

Code

This column shows the code for the dimension on the line.

Name

This column shows the name of the dimension on the line.

Dimension

The dimensions displayed in the rows on the left hand side of the matrix are also represented as dimension columns. You can determine how dimension can be combined by clicking the AssistButton in the matrix cells.
