G/L Account Balance

The G/L Account Balance window appears when you click the Balance button and then select G/L Account Balance from the Chart of Accounts window. The window shows a scrollable summary of the debit and credit balances for different time periods, for the account you select in the chart of accounts.

You can select different time intervals by clicking on the buttons in the lower left-hand corner of the window: 1 (Day), 7 (Week), 31 (Month), 3 (Quarter), 12 (Year) and three horizontal lines (Accounting Period). The selected period is shown in the Date Filter field. Accounting periods are set up in the Accounting Period table.

You can select one of the following options to determine what type of amount will be shown in the columns: Net Change or Balance at Date.

The Net Change feature displays the net change in the account balance for the period.

The Balance at Date feature displays the G/L account balance as of the last day in the period.

Global Dimension Filters

In these filter fields you can enter a dimension value that the program will use to filter the information in the window.Click here to learn more about dimensions.

Closing Entries

Here you can select whether or not the balance shown will include closing entries.

The columns in the window display the following information:

Period Start

This column shows the start of the period shown on the line.

Period Name

This column shows the name of the period shown on the line.

Debit Amount

This column shows the debit amount for the period on the line. The periods shown depend on the time interval you select from the buttons in the lower left-hand corner of the window.

Credit Amount

This column shows the credit amount for the period on the line. The periods shown depend on the time interval you select from the buttons in the lower left-hand corner of the window.
