G/L Balance by Dimension

The G/L Balance by Dimension window appears when you click the Balance button and then select By Dimensions from the Chart of Accounts window. By using the Show as Line and Show as Column fields, you can define how the list of balances is presented in the matrix window. You can select from:

You can select different time intervals by clicking the buttons in the lower left-hand corner of the window: 1 (Day), 7 (Week), 31 (Month), 3 (Quarter), 12 (Year) and three horizontal lines (Accounting Period). The selected period is shown in the Date Filter field. Accounting periods are set up in the Accounting Period table.

You can select one of the following options to determine what type of amount will be shown in the columns: Net Change or Balance at Date.

The Net Change feature displays the net change per dimension.

The Balance at Date feature displays the account balances for dimensions as of the last day in the period.

Global Dimension Filters

In these fields, you can enter the dimension value that the program will use to filter the information in the window. Click here to learn more about dimensions.

Business Unit Filter

In this field you can enter a business unit that the program will use to filter the information in the window.

Show as Lines

Here you can select the dimension and dimension values that you want to show as lines in the G/L Balance by Dimension window.

Show as Columns

Here you can select the dimension and dimension values that you want to show as columns in the G/L Balance by Dimension window.

Closing Entries

Here you can specify whether the balance shown will include closing entries.

Rounding Factor

Here you can select a rounding factor that the program will use to round the amounts in the columns. For example, if you select 1000, then all amounts will be shown in thousands.
