2.1 Web Site Setup

A Web site is a set of related Web pages. This picture shows how the Web sites you create comprise your Web portal:

The site has a home page that is the first document users see when they enter the site. The Web pages on the site are interconnected with hyperlinks that allow the user to navigate through the site.

Once you have set up the general information about your Commerce Portal, you are ready to set up one or more Web sites. For each of your Web sites, you must create a Web Site Card.

To do so, open the Web Site Card window:

There are five tabs on the Web site card. Fill in the fields on each tab according to these guidelines:

A Web portal user must first request a quote and then accept it. The user doesn't have to accept the quote immediately but can return to your Web portal later and complete the ordering process. Therefore, it is advisable to define a quote expiration date.

You can find detailed instructions about using date formulas in the Navision online Help. In the Help Contents window, click Basic Functions, and then click How to Use Date Formulas.

See Setting an Expiration Date on Sales Quotes.

You can enable your Web portal users to sign up new users through your Web portal by assigning them a role that includes this permission. For example, you could grant this permission if you want your customers or vendors to administrate the Web portal users with access to orders and other information connected to the customer or vendor.
