Creating Opportunities

You can create opportunities for the sales opportunities you have on your contacts. All opportunities must be assigned to a salesperson/purchaser and must involve a contact.

Before you can create opportunities, you must set up opportunity sales cycles.

You can create opportunities from the Opportunity List window. Depending on where you access the Opportunity List window from, the window shows opportunities for either contacts, campaigns or salespeople. The following procedure shows how to create opportunities from the salesperson/purchaser card.

To Create Opportunities:

  1. Open the Salesperson/Purchaser Card window.

  2. Find the salesperson handling the opportunity and click Salesperson/Purchaser, Opportunities.

  3. On the Opportunity List window, click Create Opportunity. The Create Opportunity wizard appears.

Alternatively, you can press F3 to create an opportunity.

  4. Fill in all the fields in the first window of the wizard, and then click Next.

  5. Fill in all the fields in the second window of the wizard, and then click Next.

The Description, Priority, Date, Salesperson Code, and Sales Cycle Code fields are mandatory fields and must be filled in before you can click Next or Finish.

  6. Fill in the other relevant fields in the wizard windows. For Help about a specific field, click the field and press F1.

  7. After you have entered all the necessary information, click Finish.

When you have created an opportunity, you can activate the first sales cycle stage, and update the opportunity.
