Microsoft Dynamics NAV Portal Framework supports Windows authentication for validating the identity of users who try to access Microsoft Dynamics NAV data from the Microsoft Dynamics NAV SharePoint client. Like the Microsoft Dynamics NAV Windows client, you restrict access to Microsoft Dynamics NAV data by creating users in Microsoft Dynamics NAV and granting permissions to Microsoft Dynamics NAV objects, such as pages and reports.
To give a user access to Microsoft Dynamics NAV objects from the Microsoft Dynamics NAV SharePoint client, configure the following permissions.
- Grant the user permission to the SharePoint
site that is running Microsoft Dynamics NAV Portal Framework.
For more information, see Grant permissions for a site. - Create a user account in Microsoft Dynamics
NAV that is configured for Windows authentication.
For more information, see How to: Create Microsoft Dynamics NAV Users. - Assign the Microsoft Dynamics NAV user the
appropriate permissions for accessing Microsoft Dynamics NAV
objects.
To view or edit a Microsoft Dynamics NAV page or report, a user must have permission to the page or report and any underlying tables or objects. For more information, see How to: Define Permissions for Users.
