For check boxes, option boxes, and text boxes, the default value of this property is taken from the value of the MaxValue property on the field. If there is no MaxValue setting on the field, then the default value is taken from the data type. You can set this property to a value more restrictive than the default value, but not less restrictive than the default value. For example, if the default value is 100, you can set this property to 99, but not to 101.

The control and field setting are checked during validation.
