When you create a layout suggestion for a report, a new client report definition (RDLC) report layout is created. You must complete additional checks and manual modifications to this suggested layout before you view the RDLC layout from the RoleTailored client.

Use the following procedure to create the suggested RDLC layout.

Before you begin this procedure, confirm the following:

To create the suggested layout

  1. In the Classic client, click Tools, and then click Object Designer.

  2. In Object Designer, click Report, select a report, and then click Design.

  3. In the Tools menu, select Create Layout Suggestion. A suggestion for an RDLC report layout is created.


    If you have already created a layout suggestion or have edited this report layout in Visual Studio, this step will overwrite the layout that you previously created or edited. If you want to edit the existing layout, in the View menu, select Layout.
