For check boxes, option boxes, and text boxes, the default value is taken from the field's MinValue setting. If there is no field MinValue setting, the default value is taken from the data type. You can set this property to a more restrictive value than the default, but you cannot set it to a less restrictive value. For example, if the default minimum value is 10, then you can set MinValue to 11, but not to 9.

Both the control and field setting are checked during validation.
