To install the Classic client, you will need:

• Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, which is installed automatically during Setup if it is not already installed.

The Classic client must be installed on one of the following operating systems. Microsoft Dynamics NAV runs in 32-bit and 64-bit operating system editions. On 64-bit (x64) editions, Microsoft Dynamics NAV runs in WOW64 emulation mode.

• Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate

• Windows Server 2008

• Windows Vista Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate with SP1 or SP2

• Windows Server 2003 SP2

• Windows XP Professional with SP3

You can customize the Classic client installation to include additional features and options. Some options impose additional software requirements.

• If you install Business Notifications Manager with Microsoft Dynamics NAV Setup, then you must run Setup on a computer where SQL Server is already installed. Also, a server operating system is recommended, because it will have Microsoft Internet Information Services, which is also required. Additional requirements for Business Notifications Manager are:

  • 32-bit operating system: Business Notifications Manager is not supported on 64-bit operating systems.

  • SQLXML 3.0 SP2.

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Notification Services. This is installed automatically with SQL Server 2005 but must be installed separately for SQL Server 2008.

• Microsoft Office 2003 or the 2007 Microsoft Office system is required for e-mail logging, Outlook client integration, budget importing and exporting to and from Excel, and Office XML and SharePoint links.

  Note
  With the 2007 Microsoft Office system, you must install the Collaboration Data Object (CDO) to use e-mail logging.
