If the standard roles do not meet your needs, you can easily modify, create or delete the permissions assigned to the existing Microsoft Dynamics NAV roles. You can also limit the extent of these permissions by applying security filters.
Click Tools, Security, Roles. The Roles window appears listing the IDs and names of all the existing Microsoft Dynamics NAV roles.
Select the role you want to modify and click Role, Permissions. The Permissions window appears listing all of the permissions that have been assigned to this role. In this window, you can correct, delete or insert lines. Each line represents an object in the program. An object is the name for a programming unit in Microsoft Dynamics NAV, such as a table, a window or a report.
In the Object Type field, you can click the AssistButton to see or select the types of objects for which you can assign permissions.
The other fields on the right of the window indicate whether the role includes permissions to read, insert, modify, delete or execute the table, window, function, and so on. The following options are available in these permissions fields:
Yes: You can always read, for example, this object.
Indirect: The permission is valid only when used with another object that you have permission for. For example, you cannot create G/L entries directly, but you can create them indirectly, using the posting function.
If the field is blank, you do not have this permission.
If you select Table Data in the Object Type field, you can also apply a security filter. In the Security Filter field, click the AssistButton and use the standard table filter window that appears to specify the filter. The security filter will limit the permissions to data about specific customers, vendors and so on.
Modify the permissions that have been assigned to this role by applying a security filter or by adding, changing or removing permissions.
