Setting Up Online Map

When you plan a visit to for example a customer, you can get a map from an online map service with route directions described in the language you select. To allow this online map service to find the right map and directions you need to set it up in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

Note:

Since the online map is activated when you click the pushpin icon next to the Country/Region Code field on various cards (Location Card, Customer Card, Vendor Card, Company Information, Resource Card, Job Card, Ship-to Address, Order Address, Bank Account Card, Contact Card, Employee Card), it is important that you insert a code in this field. If there is no code in the field, the online map will not be able to find the location.

The pushpin icon is only visible on the cards if the Online Map Setup table contains records. See below how you can import a set of default records.

You use two different windows to set up the online map: Online Map Setup and Online Map Parameter Setup.

To Set Up Online Map:

  1. Open the Online Map Setup window (from the Navigation Pane, click Administration, Application Setup, General, Online Map Setup).

  2. Insert a language code in the Default Language Code field, or click the AssistButton in the field to open the Online Map Parameter Setup window and select a code.

Note:

If the Online Map Parameter Setup window is empty, you can install predefined language codes, country/region codes and URLs for the destination maps by clicking the Insert Default button in the window. This will import a set of default records that you can select from. You can change these records or insert your own.

  1. While in the Online Map Parameter Setup window, continue to fill out the Country/Region Code field. If you click the AssistButton in the field, the Countries/Regions window opens and you can select a code from this window.

  2. If you use the online map provided by for example MSN, in the Country/Region Cnty. Value field, insert a numeric value representing the country/region you selected. Use the numeric values listed in the following table:

  2. Insert the relevant Map URL in the Local Map URL field, and the relevant Find URL in the Local Directions Find URL field.

  3. Back in the Online Map Setup window, select either Default Language or Client Language in the Show Maps in Language field, where the default language is the language you inserted in the Default Language Code field, and the client language is the language set up for the company in the Application Languages window (in the menu bar, click Tools, Language. to open the window).

Note:

Online map home pages may change over time and therefore the URL addresses may need regular updating.
