Configuring Microsoft Dynamics NAV

Configuration is the setup that the administrator or superuser does for the company in order to configure the user experience for end-users. Specifically, it is the customization of the user interface (Role Center) for the end-user to match a specific role. All configuration tasks are carried out by an administrator or super user.

Configuration puts into practice the concept of role-based and task-oriented design.

For example, when Susan, the Order Processor opens the RoleTailored Client for the first time she sees the Order Processor Role Center, which has been customized to help her carry out her daily tasks. In configuring Susan’s Role Center, the administrator has added or removed UI elements, such as items in the Navigation Pane, Page Parts or FactBoxes.

Before you can configure a Role Center for a user you must first create a new profile using the Profile Card.
