The Inventory Posting Setup Table

This field contains the number of the G/L account to which you want the program to post transactions for items in this combination of location and inventory posting group.

You use the Adjust Cost - Item Entries and Post Inventory Cost to G/L batch jobs to calculate and post inventory transactions. After running them, the balance on this account will then equal the actual value of items on inventory.

If you want the program to update the inventory account every time you post an item-related transaction, you must activate this option in the Automatic Cost Posting field in the Inventory Setup window. Note that this method is useful only if you use costing method Average. If you use any of the other costing methods, you will still have to run the Adjust Cost - Item Entries and Post Inventory Cost to G/L batch jobs periodically.
